Each HEX object is hand painted and designed with a symbolic blessing in mind. They are intended to hang on outdoor structures to bring good things to all those who reside there. Borrowing from Pennsylvania Dutch Folklore, they often are believed to protect family, livestock and crops from bad weather and other potential misfortune. Originally, the Pennsylvania Dutch painted barn stars directly onto the siding of their barns. Gradually, this changed to the practice of painting the stars onto large wooden discs and then mounting them onto barns. These wooden signs became known as hex signs. |

HEX objects are made of 1/2" high-grade plywood and wrapped with a re-purposed, floating, bourbon-barrel ring, fastened with heavy gauge, wire mounts at 4 points.
All HEX objects are painted with exterior grade paint and top coated with a marine varnish. Each finished HEX object measures 21" to 25". The metal rings vary in size and therefore the size of each sign varies slightly. The inner piece of wood ranges in size from 18" to 21" in diameter. |
